Overview of Restylane Injections in Miami

Restylane is Miami’s go-to, naturally soft cosmetic filler. Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections are a fast, non-surgical way to instantly rejuvenate your appearance, restore volume, improve contours and confidence. Aging catches up with all of us eventually, and it often shows first on our faces. Men and women notice diminished facial fat, hydration, and firmness throughout midlife. That means fine lines, deepening folds, hollows, and thinning lips appear. Loss of jawline definition and under-eye bags, flattening cheeks and deepening smile lines (nasolabial folds) are all-natural but often unwanted signs of aging facial tissue.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, which forms naturally in your body to help maintain skin firmness and moisture. It’s hydrophilic, meaning it draws water into itself to amplify volume where it’s placed. Different gel cohesivity is available, including some that are thinner and flexible, and others that feel thick and firmer. Restylane® Defyne is a thick gel designed for deep injection and contouring areas like the jaw or cheekbones and cheekhollows. It can also help fill in severe wrinkles. Restylane Refyne is for fine lines and wrinkles. Restylane Kysse is used almost exclusively for lips. The gel elevates sunken tissue from underneath the skin and eventually dissolves to be flushed away in your lymphatic system. HA fillers like Restylane do not contain plastic, collagen, silicone, or other permanent and synthetic materials. However, consistent treatment with HA does tend to stimulate collagen production, which is a win-win for lasting results.

WHO MAKES A GREAT RESTYLANE CANDIDATE?

Dr. Kallman might recommend Restylane for you if you’ve developed facial hollows due to weight loss or age-related volume depletion. This is also an ideal product for lip augmentation. Fillers work well in glabellar lines between the brows (number 11's), nasolabial folds (laugh lines), the marionettes at lower mouth corners, and the jawline, which can lose definition with age. Ideal candidates for dermal fillers may have cosmetic concerns, including: A sunken appearance under their eyes (tear troughs) Thinning, sagging facial skin Flattening cheeks and midface Thin lips Loss of cheekbone definition Though fillers will not accomplish the more dramatic and permanent facial lifting that a facelift can, they are often useful for patients in their 30s, 40s and 50s to improve mild to moderate signs of aging.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM TREATMENT WITH RESTYLANE® IN MIAMI?

Restylane® is administered with minimally invasive needle or cannula techniques. After an in-person interview and assessment, Dr. Kallman will recommend the right dermal filler or other treatments combined to give you the smoother, firmer facial contours you’re missing.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR FILLER TREATMENT:

Before Restylane

If you are planning a special event or vacation, we recommend you undergo filler treatment a couple weeks before. You may be advised to temporarily discontinue medications or supplements that thin the blood and could lead to bruising. Pre-treatment for reoccurring cold sores is sometimes recommended.

During Treatment

Miami Restylane injections are quick - usually lasting less than an hour, even for multiple areas. Many people ask whether cosmetic injections hurt. Luckily, the pain from cosmetic injections is reported to be minimal, especially after the first needle poke. That’s because they contain lidocaine, which goes to work numbing the area right away. You can have a topical numbing cream applied, and skillful application techniques reduce discomfort for most people. An ice pack applied directly after is sometimes desired but not necessary. Sensitive areas like the lips often swell a little in the first 24 hours.

After Treatment

Patients see results almost instantly! Swelling may cause the treated area to look somewhat fuller and feel firmer for roughly 1-2 days. You can usually see settled results within 1-2 weeks. At that time, adding more is an option if desired.

What is Dermal Filler Recovery Like?

Restylane® doesn’t require significant downtime, such as time off work. However, many people will schedule their treatments in the afternoon or before a weekend so they can discretely wait for any bruising or swelling to pass.

Dr. Kallman’s staff will provide you with instructions to avoid direct sun exposure and refrain from pressing on the area for the first day or two.

Many people return to their normal activities right after treatment and enjoy their results from day one.

Restylane Results

Restylane® temporarily restores facial volume and hydration where injected. Under-eye skin shows improvement in firmness and diminished hollows immediately, while the product integrates over time and continues to improve appearance for a few months. Some areas, such as the lips, experience dynamic movement daily. Those locations may not preserve filler results for as long as others. The effects of Restylane® can often be prolonged with repeated treatment, and you can count on touch-ups every 6-12 months in most cases. Patients report feeling more confident in their appearance and noticing a refreshed, softer, and younger facial appearance. Of course, this benefit can affect multiple areas of a person’s life! Many treated with Restylane say they wish they’d done it earlier because they love how it makes them look and feel.
